METAMORPHOSIS

'Metamorphosis' is an installation developed by ASVS Architects to the IPP (Instituto Politécnico do Porto) stand at the fair 'Qualifica 2015', Exponor - Matosinhos.

The project aims to respond to the assumptions made by the client (open space, information and design) involving the students in the stand’s construction. As a metaphor of the Polytechnic of Porto fundamentals - providing the knowledge and scientific tools essential to a qualifying education – each student is invited to actively participate in the construction of the facility, through the placement of PVC tubes on the floor identified with the different striped colors of the schools that compose the institution.

The gradual construction of the facility offers visitors different spatial experiences along the 'Qualifica 2015', culminating in the construction of a contextual landscape that results from free space appropriation by the players. The final form of the 'Metamorphosis' is a natural consequence of the will of the users and not a design imposed by the project.
